One sunny afternoon, I walked around Montreal for an hour and a half looking for a place which sold canned air because a biscuit crumb had rendered the tab key on my $2700 MBP useless. A couple of days later I found the key had become magically unstuck, so I did some research and decided to buy the GhostCover.
The cover really is extremely thin, and due to the tactile nature of the butterfly keyboard, effect on key feel is minimal. It comes with adhesives which you can opt to place around the KB to keep the cover from lifting off the keyset during typing (I recommend this).
As someone who collects mechanical keyboards I am pleased with the effect the cover has on tactile feedback, emulating a more enhanced “Topre-esque” feeling. The cover also softens the clacking of the keys quite pleasantly, I am enjoying typing this review just to hear the keys, but I’m just a little weird when it comes to clicky things.
Not much to say negatively about this product, if I do come across something I will be sure to update this review. So far the only thing I could see becoming an issue is the keys lifting off, especially if you forget to wash your hands after eating ice cream or doing anything else which makes your fingers sticky. Place the adhesives strategically to prevent this as much as possible.
Not having to worry about your keyboard suffering crumb or even liquid damage is cause enough for me to recommend this product. The added tactile and aural improvements (opinion) are great added bonuses, all for a very fair price compared to the cost of repairing your keyboard, or spending a week without your laptop because a stray biscuit crumb rolled off your shirt and lodged itself under your CTRL^ key.
